Overlap
Overlap is a strip of image printed on both of two adjacent tiles, so their contents are duplicated along the shared edge.
Why overlap exists
Butt-joining tiles demands perfectly straight cuts and zero placement error - any gap shows. With overlap, each seam has a duplicated zone: you align the top sheet over the duplicate area, and small errors disappear inside the overlap instead of showing as white lines or doubled content.
How Splitter Studio uses it
You set overlap in millimeters (a few millimeters is typical). Splitter Studio then:
- includes the extra content in every interior tile edge,
- adjusts rows and columns so the final assembled size stays exact,
- draws the overlap strips in the preview so you can see what will be duplicated,
- keeps crop marks aligned to the true trim lines.
Choosing a value

More overlap costs slightly more ink per seam but forgives more assembly error. Pair it with bleed for trimmed outer edges.
